‘As we approach the state elections the Calder Action Group Inc calls upon on both sides of politics and the federal government to ‘Fix the Calder Freeway’.
Between 2016 and 2041, the population for the City of Brimbank is forecast to increase by 39,196 persons (19.20% growth), at an average annual change of 0.70%.
In todays terms this would equate to a total population of 243,386 by 2041.
Given the above you could reasonably believe this will have a significant impact on regular commuters in Brimbank and beyond to the Northwest Region.
Currently the capacity for the Calder Freeway and Melton Highway during peak period is reaching its limits in terms of allowing smooth uninterrupted traffic flow.
Accidents are now occurring more frequently on the Calder Freeway and through the lack of appropriate emergency lanes in certain sections including additional lanes is causing
driver frustration and angst.
Our group is seeking a financial commitment in future budgets for the Calder Park Drive/Calder Freeway Overpass with additional lanes and bridge widening from state and federal governments.’
